My
tulips are finally blooming! We stay pretty
cold in these Utah parts ... have even had hard
frosts all the way up to June!
I am
studying this photo real good to see if I can make a
quilt out of it:

And I launched a couple of new quilt patterns today
on BOMquilts.com!

It
drives me nuts when I read other blogs and the
authors haven't updated their sites - so, I
apologize to YOU that I'm not as hands-on as I'd
like to be. I'll continue to try to do better.
And
tonight, she sews.
That's
my plan - let's see how much I can get done!
On
another note - I'm heading to Minneapolis to the
International Quilt Market trade show!!! No
one can be as excited as I am about going!
After thinking about it, I realized I had not been
away from either my husband or the kids ALONE
OVERNIGHT since 1993! If you know me, you know
that means it's been since BEFORE I had kids!
Here's
my finished FQS Faded Basket table topper quilt.
It *was* done before Easter and it was a beautiful
addition to our table, for sure!

How in
the WORLD did I ever survive without this walking
foot???!!! In less than an hour, I was able to
sew & bind this baby quilt I made for our friends,
Carla & James, who are *hopefully* adopting a baby
boy soon!
If you
made the FQS Hugs & Kisses table topper, you
*should* recognize the pattern of this quilt - I
just enlarged the blocks and put only 16 blocks in
the quilt. Isn't it adorable?!!!

AND, I
want you to make note of the quilting that my
soon-to-be business partner from Red Rooster Quilts
& Treasures in Providence, Utah did for me -- do you
see the STAR details below? Ms. Carla is a
collector of five-pointed stars - so, I wanted to
make sure the quilt has some of her special shapes
in it, too!

Easter
is almost upon us and I still have to quilt the FQS
Faded Basket table topper I made! You can get
the instructions for it here
BOM06_faded.html
Here's
my finished top - I actually have the border and
binding sewn, just have to quilt the whole thing:

I've
also designed a new row of the month quilt, using
Spencer's Museum fabrics from
FatQuarterShop.com

Spencer is my maiden name, so I wanted to feature
these beautiful fabrics - and I wanted to do a row
of the month pattern! You can click on the
photo to go see more information and the schedule
for instructions to be delivered.

It's
been a while since I've posted - I apologize for
that! I've been sewing and piecing and just
having a big ole' time!
And
I've been stomping out ignorance.
Unfortunately, I was the ignorant one! I could
never figure out why I couldn't sew in layers --
like quilting, or even just sewing a binding!
I'd always get the bunched up fabric and have
trouble with puckers and messed up fabric.
YES, I
have been making quilts for over 20 years -- but, I
just didn't have a clue that the problem wasn't my
stupidity or lack of coordination! hehe
It was because I didn't have the right TOOLS for the
job!
A
month ago, I found out that I needed a walking foot
for my sewing machine.
<ahem>
Something so simple as a walking foot.
<sigh>
Now I
feel like such an idiot -- when, in fact, I'm more
educated now than I was a month ago! Today, I
picked up my new walking foot -- and today, I have
finished TWO (very small) quilting projects!
This
first one is for a young Miss who needs a new
blankie for her pet (stuffed) hippo:

And
the second one is a table topper for the young
Miss's mom - psssst: if you've been working on
the FQS Faded Hugs & Kisses Mystery Quilt, this is
what it looks like in bold colors when finished:
